Rebadging to RE sparky

#1
Hi all,

I am a CPL in the Sigs and am looking at rebadging. The options I have so far are Ammo Tech or Sparky.

Could anyone give me some details on the training side of life......How long and where is it.

Also, What do sparkys do in their daily job and are there many tours.

Also....again...what are the posting options like?

erm,...that's enough questions for now.

Thanks all
John

Where are you based? PM me if you wish. Your best bet is to get an interview with the RCMO of your nearest Regular RE unit, who will be able to talk this through. He will also be able to get official advice from REMCM Div.

Nah, you want to be C3 sigs. ;)

Whatever you choose you'll probably have to do you're B3, I remember there was a CPL in the AGC that transferred to the RE who had to do it when I was doing my B3

NT - thanks for your input, but since you have only been out of training for about 20 seconds, I think it would be better if we gave this man some direction based on formal advice from REMCM Div etc.

Grandad - as I said above - I will PM you in a day or two.

Fair one, like! I'll have a tenner on the sprog RE C3s taking on the Signals JNCO.. Batco at Dawn..

You call it how you see it NT, time served or not. There's a definate inkling of Esprit De Corps forming in you. Kindle it, Nuture it, never let it go.

You'll go far.

As for our Sigs Cpl in need of info.

Come to the Corps my friend.

Yeah but lucky old me I am in Afghan at the moment trying to decide on my career change.
(don't get me wrong, one of the main reasons I am rebadging is that in my trade I have to keep looking at trawls to get out on tours)
....cheers chimera, look forward to the PM

RE Sparky getting out in 3 months wahooo (finishing in 42 Geo Engr Regt so you will probably understand the sentiment.)
Most sparkys do little in the way of trade while in regiments (dont let the gennys and lighting kit kak fool you) usually being employed as knockers but get busy on tour big step up from your RS Ed's.
You get the chance though of civvy attachments finished my seconed one 2 years ago (4 years at DCRE Airfields, no green kit, work for civ contractor, go on tour as a specialist doing trade all the time)
the Class 2 is 9 months long. Class 1 being about 6 months
You still gotta do all knocker courses have to be a class 1 in trade and combat engineer to call yoursen ME 1 Elec.
Sparky trade on its own is low pay band (paid as a knocker but aint done it for 12 years cos knockers are high band Cheers 44 for making me do my class 1 FE)

I thought all Trades in the Corps are High band, as per a ruling from the CRE when the ripoff 2000 payscales were published in 2001 and they realised that no one would want to be in a rush to do their trade course because of only being low band.
