I was being sarcastic. Putting it simply, I have a car still under manufacturers warranty, I do not take it to the manufacturer for repair or service, the manufacturer still honours the warranty and does not seem to have any issues with IP.No, the point's made in the blurb: if you give it to someone else, they've got to take it apart and learn it before they can put it together again and improve it.
There are also intellectual property issues.
I don't see why anyone should have an issue with this being single-source. For one, it's the quickest and simplest way to get things done. For two, many of those platforms work - they just haven't had the love they should have in recent years.
I agree single source for maintenance seems a good way ahead.
