RE Trade

#1
HI guys I’m thinking about joining the RE but lack sufficient GCSE grades to join as a chippy or plumber the only way I can join in these trades I have to ascertain a shading reference so I was looking at the - Military Engineer - Command, Communications and Information Systems Specialist, what I want to know really is in this trade am I likely to sit in a tent of a land rover relaying messages etc or can I expect to spend a lot of time in the field, I don’t mind working in the trade but I would also prefer to spend most of my time as a combat engineer thanks in advance

You only require A-D in Maths, Eng and Sci for Chippy or A-C's for Plumber. How about going to college to re-take you GCSE's. Whilst your there sign up for the FE Bursary scheme. Earn yourself a few quid whilst getting the grades required for the job you actually want to do

Look on here:

Having said that, the chippy, sparky and plumber jobs are popular and have quite a long waiting period for trade training.

However, if a recruit is wanting to join in a hurry, can I suggest the following trades that have vacancies now:

ME Ftr and ME Ftr ACR - both attract a Golden Hello of £500 (minimum), you also get a C+E licence and other NVQ qualifications.

ME Geo Tech - Golden Hello of £500 (minimum), C+E licence and opportunity to gain a foundation degree.

ME Res Spec - C+E licence and other NVQ qualifications in Warehousing.

ME C3S - Driving Licence, Computer Driving Lenience and other NVQ qualifications

Hope this helps.

if you want a decent trade then stick to your guns, it will be worth the wait.
Unfortunately, Lads now-a-days won't or can't afford to wait. Here in the AFCO if the wait is too long then we are losing them to their 2nd or 3rd choices. Which 8 times out of 10 is Infantry.

their loss then, always call for a mortar base-plate carrier in civ-div.

my god, you've given birth to a 20 year old!!

...duly washed off the placenta, donned his stable belt then blew a mousehole in the delivery room wall!!

..as all RE are!
