  1. Hi all.
I am joining the Reme in November as a Technical support specialist(Storeman) but have already served 9 years in the RAF as a Supplier with a 12 month break from service.
Does anyone have any experience in this field as I cant get anything out of the AFCO or JPA Glasgow as regards to what pay level I will re-enter on.
I left the RAF on level 9 Lower band and the REME is higher but understand I cannot enter on level 9 as I will achieve a £4000 rise and will be paid LCPL salary as a private.
Any advice would be gratefull. Thanks in advance.
  2. I think the pay level is around the same but the quality of life is approx 80% shitter. Good luck.
  3. High 5 roadster :D
  4. Thanks for the replys. I have tried other trades but sick of waiting now (15 months) and with the cutbacks, how much longer could I be waiting. I understand that I could end up being an OAP Cpl but is rank everything. Pay and pension and job security are more important to me but if I get the opportunity to gain a few ranks then all the best. Cheers again.
  5. I think you should STFU and stay out of this forum - Disco
  6. No harm to you Louizd but if you did not get promoted as a Norman in the Air Force after 9 years you will stand well behind bright fit kids joining the REME 10 years younger than you who will put you to shame & get their first tape well ahead of you.
  7. Sorry Killalore, that's not how Crab-air works, lots of bright SACs/Cpls just bugger-all promotion, no Army stylee rapid promotion or out, just different approaches I guess. Just because he didn't make Flt Sgt in a fortnight doesn't mean he's doomed
  8. Disco yyou sad C**t,doe you ware polyester by any chance?
  9. Army rumour service, ring any bells?
  10. Thankyou Maple, I'm glad someone has some experience with working with the RAF and thanks for explaining how things are very different as regards to rank compared to the Army. Killaloe holiday- Thanks for useless, incorrect and straight to the point answer but can only assume you have never left camp and worked with other members of the armed forces. Why would a new joiner put me to shame. As much as you know, I could have just missed out to promotion to CPL before I left. Promotion is very different and you will see the huge age gaps in comparable ranks if you ever get the chance. Thanks again Maple
