Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. You know that Aldershot is really in the doldrums when this happens:

By all accounts the old building (Newnham Hall) was the oldest RBL club in the country, don't know if that's true or not but it certainly looked it. I personally think they missed a trick by not building the new one in a more central position instead of the outskirts of town.
  2. I'm sure the MOD could squeeze a couple of hundred beds into the new building and call it an accommodation block- leaving them free to sell off another barracks for a pittance. There's plenty of room for some more II's in the 'Shot.

I'm sorry to hear of the demise of the old RBL in North Lane.
I always felt an old National Service camp was missing a Nissen hut when I walked past it.
Bought a fantastic carpet off a bloke in there once.
    It did my entire flat.
It was one of those 'special' carpets.
Carpets, falling off the back of the lorry for the use of.
    Great club.
    Great carpet.
    RIP
