Ranger Brigade(s)

Seems the Command Paper dog and pony show went well.
Military chiefs plan to create a Rangers regiment, a special forces light unit, to provide assistance, training and stabilisation missions, most likely to African countries, from 2022.
Glad to see the PARAs haven’t lost the cap badge preservation touch.

Only a matter of time before someone posts this, so might as well be me....

Isn't a "Ranger" reg just SFSG? And if they want to train other nations Isn't that the point of Spec Inf battalions (and in a US context thats the Green Berets)

There was talk of Spec Inf doing some sort of arduous qualifying course. The AACC was suggested but CTCRM rightly responded that they completely lacked both the capacity and the instructors.

Apparently this is all about who gets to wear Crye...

Got to keep up with the Bootnecks don't you know.
Question is - does Crye actually have the capacity to suddenly dress an extra couple of 1000 of men and women?

I thought 1 Rifles had a Commando Support role , with a lot of them AACC

What happened to those Bns created for this very role - were they not reduced sized line Bns
