Ramp Ceremonies Petition

#1
We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to Change the
rules regarding Ramp Ceremonies for HM Forces Personnel killed
by an act of terror, while in the Service of Her Majesty the
Queen

The bodies of the soldiers Murdered in Northern Ireland were
flown home without ceremony. This has angered members of HM
Forces: "British troops have spoken of their anger following
the disclosure that the bodies of the two soldiers murdered by
dissident republicans were shipped back to the UK as freight."

"We have been told that the soldiers were not allowed to have a
ramp service because of political reasons. We were told the
Government didn't want anything that would look like the
Troubles had restarted.

"As far as we are concerned these soldiers were shot dead in
uniform by terrorists and they should be treated in exactly the
same way as if they were killed in Afghanistan. To send their
bodies back to the UK as freight is outrageous."

When a person joins any branch of HM Forces they are
effectively on duty 24/7/365.

Hi there, I am the uncle to one of those sappers killed at massereene march 7th. and am disgusted to read this post. Mark Quincey.

The refusal of a ramp service wasn't the only thing to have gone wrong about this whole affair if you ask me.

Was security as bad as it seems to have been?
Why no armed soilders after the threat level had been risen to severe?
Why no vehicle checks?
why no ID checks?
Why no roaming patroll?
Why were unidentifide cars allowed to pull up outside the the gates?(they could have been bombs)
Why wasn't the darkened carpark lit and patrolled?
Why were soldiers - in uniform - allowed out of the gates?
Why weren't soldiers confined to barracks for the last 36 hours before they were deplyed over -seas?
Why didn`t the SGS return fire?
Why wasn't the getaway car not approached by members of the SGS beore the shooting started. It had been opposite the sangar/tower some time before a shot was fired?
Why weren't these soldiers assembled and an address give as to the dangers of complacency?
Why no residential SGT Major in attendance to respond to such emergencies?
WAS Massereen EVER on the high threat level of severe?
How long had the brigadier know these two young sappers?

I would appreciate answers to ANY ONE of the above.
