Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. why cant we raise the upper age limit for our soldiers in line with america anyone under 40 who would re-join regular please comment there are guys out there with a good head on there shoulders and who are still fit enough if you can pass all tests then why not let us back in me included age 36

  2. Why should we do anything 'in line with America'?

  3. why not there are gaps needing filled in the army. i was only using them as an example as there upper age limit is higher than ours.

  4. I think that you are American, just going on your written word.

  5. There are gaps that need filling in your edukashun too.

Sentences, capitals and punctuation would be a good start.

  6. Two points:

In certain areas of the Army they'll be shortages of manpower, be it specialist or other,

The army like the other 2 services are in the same boat in making pax redundant so at the age of 36 unless you have something 'significant' to offer the army which would improve your opportunity then slim chances,

Lastly, The US forces are significantly larger in size compared to ours, although better equipped & looked after you could try them instead ? Otherwise TA.... Mind you not forgetting the TA are currently under review also, unsure when the findings are released though, Sept I think.

  7. hope thats beteer for you

  8. Still no capitals, a half hearted attempt at punctuation, (well, it's a start I suppose), and it's 'better', not 'beteer'.

  9. Some comparisons for the OP to consider; here, at least, recruitment age is affected by many factors, some of which are a comparatively small, ageing population, the state of the economy (particularly WRT competition from the resources sector) and age discrimination legislation; Recruitment Centre | Defence Jobs
