Rail Warrants

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Just I quick question.

Are soldiers still entitled to rail warrants?
If not what has replaced them?

  2. Buying the ticket & claiming it back via JPA
  3. Warrants are still available, but are only to be used in an emergency.
  4. Defence travel can book you a ticket, you pick it up at the station from the fast ticket machines with the ref number they send you.
  5. Cheers all.

I seam to remember from my blurry past that you used to be able to get 2 free warrants a year is this still the case or has the army got even tighter??
  6. In your 1st 3 years you get 4 journeys per year under GYH(EY) (Get You Home (Early Years)). After that.... well, usually it's self help.
  7. I think families still get them when they're entitled. Especially those of bean stealers who may not be nearby, and who want to start journey from rural backwater station.
