RAF Regt run harder?!

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Sorry, I bet this has been asked many times before ..

I was looking to improve my running fitness/stamina. Decided to use the regular infantry 1.5 mile max time as a target to beat, but also compared it to that of the RAF gunners.

Infantry max run time - 12.45

    Rockapes max time (17 years) - 12.36

How come they've got a 9 second less time to beat? I know it isn't that big of a difference, but it's still a bit dodgy.. doesn't this 'elite regiment' ( ) sit around RAF bases?

  2. You're looking at the website of Welbeck, the Defence sixth form college..

Unless things have changed drastically since I left 3 years ago the maximum time for a male under 30 (trained soldier) to run 1.5 miles is 10 mins 30 seconds.
  3. Aren't there different requirements for Inf and other arms? I thought that Infantry had the cutoff at 10:30 while others had it later. Hence making the Rockapes (an "Infantry" unit) rather slow by comparison.
  4. I did mine in 10.40 at selection, which is admittadly shit, but still got in for RAMC.
  5. yes the RAF Regt run harder - its difficult for them to lift their knuckles off the ground!

    ... al get me coat!
