RAF Regt Officer - 36 Upper age limit

I've just noticed (unless I'm missing something major!) that the upper age limit for Officers in the RAF regiment is 36. I don't want to start another Rockapes v the rest thread, but I'm interested in this, given that advanced age can close a lot of doors to Army officers. Despite the RAF professing to be a similar light infantry organisation, they don't seem to consider applicants age, only fitness standards. What's ARRSE's wisdom on this?
