An RAF Reservist set a world record time last weekend when he completed the Lochaber Marathon in full military uniform. Andy McMahon, a Children’s rights officer from Inverness, who had to wear full body armour, uniform, boots and helmet, broke the previous military kit record by more than 15 minutes when he crossed the finish line in 3:49:21; an incredible achievement, given that the helmet and body armour alone weigh around 10 pounds.

Good skills that man, and a credit to the Sqn.

Better yet was when he left the Sqn on a Sat afternoon, did a half marathon, then came back in time to join in the WOs run.

captaincalamity how are you getting on with joining the auggies?
Doing just fine, been in since Jan, on the BG Course (ha!), trying not to ask too many unanswerable questions like when can I do a mortar course!

Well done that man. There was a craze a few years back for a squad run in a marathon, wearing boots and webbing of around 36lb. The Marines had just lost the record time to an Army unit the last I remember.

(What other record has the RAF Regt got?)
