RAF Police vehicles

I'll give the OP the benefit of the doubt by assuming it's for one of the Cold War fast jet groups; one of them even moved a Cold War QRA shed somewhere and occasionally do a Lightning scramble re-enactment.

Regards,
MM

Were the RAFP involved in scrambles? I know they were involved in nuclear alert fun in Germany, but Lightnings?

The worst attempt at walting, ever.
Don’t knock it.

I’ve seen INT Corps security sections for re-enactment purposes. They may even specialise checking if you’re using XPM in you’re pretend armoury and you’ve got the right grade of barbed wire.

For full on effect they even give mock security interviews for good soldierswho dare to have a different sexual orientation.

Not directly but I assume the armed aircraft and Q-sheds were guarded by the plods. However, I just used the Lightning gang as an example. The car may equally be for one of the 'night photo-shoots' of other types that some of these groups use to raise money.

Re-enactment is really not my thing so I've no idea what they want it for.

MM

I qualified my statement. I have great respect for some of the re-enactment groups The rest was in jest.

Apologies, I wasn't having a dig at you...I was just trying to think of at least one vaguely valid reason for wanting to pretend to be a Snowdrop!

No prob MM - I know where you were coming from - it's been a long day writing reports.

In fairness, if the OP rocked up in a car with the wrong kit or markings he'd be pulled apart by all the walts who claim to know better but would never be bothered to make any effort to recreating something. I saw it all the time at shows with the Military Vehicle Trust.

(but....RAF Police? Aren't there any majorette bands needing transport? )

A friend and I would like to build up a RAF Police Vehicle for reenactment purpose. It should ne a Vauxhall from the 70's/80's. What we need were some pictures to know the colors and markings.

Sweet Jaysus....:smurf:

Do not begin to question the sanity of anyone who wants to walt around dressed as a snowdrop, it defies all logic and common sense.

Perhaps there is method in the madness. It is becoming harder and harder to get away with walting as a roughie toughie warry type so you have to lower the bar. Ok, so in this case it is lowering it to ground level right off the bat but the early bird and all that. It would be very sad to be outed as such in the national press though, perhaps that is the only caution I would advise.

Wallting at any level is indicative of peer envy, and a life lost, trying to emulate something not quite within their grasp, or outside their capabilities, its sad really, you don't see war Veterans dressing up and mincing about at county shows, old soldiers in blazers and regimental ties are acceptable, they earned the wright, but not the whole AFG 1137 ensemble, with 1033 add-on's, worn by blokes who have never served. There is nothing on gods good earth that could persuade me to wear a uniform again, under any circumstances. Once was enough.

From personal experience, as a pad brat who scrumped apples from a group captain's garden orchard in Sussex, they used RAF blue bicycles, until HM Queen Elizabeth 2nd's royal visit to RAF Tangmere in 1959(?) when they suddenly acquired a 1958, series 2, Landrover.

Makes a refreshing change from people wanting to re-enact the Screaming Eagles or Waffen SS, though. Personally, I think that re-enactors depicting an MBLU would be good!!
