RAF pilot on Libya evacuations

Ministry of Defence said:
Hercules pilot Flight Lieutenant Stu Patton speaks about his involvement in the missions to evacuate British civilians from Libya in the last week of February.

Good man, that man.

............even though the thread title did initially lead me to think that, as he trolled along the Gulf of Sirte with the ramp down, his Loadies were keks down and depositing the previous nights Korma and Sagaloo onto the upturned faces of Clan Gaddaf.
Did they not have any fighter support at all? Would that have been a realistic possibility? If the aircraft had been fired upon by surface to air weapons would they have been destroyed?
