Quotes from ARRSE all over the shop!

Dear God in heaven! I've been quoted in Socialist Worker (hangs head in shame). That's my political ambitions shot to ribbons.

I was on the cover of the RCP's Living Marxism back in the 80's

Living Marxism, an incoherent rag full of sixth form arguments, some extremely bizarre. However, I was coerced into a years subscription by a foxy blond in Birmingham town. It's strange how Mick Hume, LM's pre-eminent columist, now writes for Murdoch at the Times

at the end of the day, this is why we need BAFF!

Fair play to the Commies, but like the Politicians, they only quote ARRSE in order to satisfy their own agenda.

Shove the lot of em. We should look after ourselves

I think that it was the 'bring on the revolution' bit that must have caught their eye.

FFS, Pillager! Now we're at the centre of world attention (at least in Twaddling-by-the-Sea), at least have the good grace to pay attention to your use of English! The quote should read:

"If you're not a Communist by the time you're 18, you have no heart. If you're not a Conservative by 21, you have no head."

You'll be saying "Quollocks to the Bueen" next! :D :D :D

Good job I was 18 (19?) then, I actually bought Capital on my 18th birthday and read it cover to cover. The cover that I appeared on was a 'gig' at St. Georges Hall in Liverpool, when some Perestroika/Glasnost era artists/musicians from Moscow came to town. I remember thinking that (red) flags would go up...

The point I was trying to make, fellow ARRSErs, is that we're now being taken seriously as the true voice of ex and serving members of HM Armed Forces.

Look at the membership of Urban75 and compare it to ours! When was the last time you remember Urban75 being quoted in the right or left-wing press?

Now look at the credence given to our (ARRSE) opinion(s) of late. See any difference?

We should now be aware that we're being closely clocked, but don't let that stop you (us) being squaddies at heart (particularly in the NAAFI)! It's what makes the site so interesting and a joy to be a part of!

Let's start an ARRSE party to take part in the next UK general election!

The potentially serious problem with this (not so) new found fame is that they end up quoting anyone who posts here, no checks as to the authenticity/credentials of the poster. We have enough walter mitty types among us and these journalists will not attempt to differentiate between a genuine gripe from a soldier and a politically motivated dig - they will just use whatever suits their own aims. I doubt that it is intended to be for our benefit.

Edited to put:

and just to add.

What happens when Arrse becomes so well known that people really start digging, the anti everything brigade need look no further than the NAAFI bar or even "the best of arrse" to get their ammo against the poor hard done by squaddie.

How do you think this thread would be perceived by middle England after being plastered on a tabloid front page:

http://www.arrse.co.uk/cpgn2/Forums/viewtopic/t=13451.html

I'm worried that while a lot of good appears to be happening now, this could change the face of Arrse as we know it.

Granted, floppyjockey! Well spotted indeed.
I think the UK could well take a leaf out of the German press laws in that every publication is legally obligated to print a refutation on its front page if it's found that anything was misquoted or misrepresented.

They get quoted a fair bit as well, since that puff Paddick revealed his drug habits on there.
