Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I use my Digi Camera for short Video files that come out as Quick time files..but when i wanted to use them as part of a Windows Film maker file it says they are the wrong format..any ideas??

Quck time is an Apple video format and Windows Movie Maker does not I think accept them, MS and Apple of course not being the best of friends.

To convert a MOV into a WMV you can either buy/try many of the software tools available (just do a google search) or you can try the free online conversion sites

  3. Do you have VLC player? You can use that to convert videos.

Alternatively, if you are going to download a program to convert videos, I would suggest a program called 'SUPER'.

It is the best free programme out there at the moment (IMO).

If you are converting, and will be editing the resulting video, try not to use .wmv first because it really degrades the quality of the video. DivX is usually pretty good and stable.
  4. That site is a good resource. As for quicktime, I think that is Apples revenge if you don't buy their hardware. Sort of a Steve Jobs last laugh.
  5. Cheers to all :)
