Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Whats the average length of time it takes from visiting a unit your interested in joining, to then commencing training?

  2. Dependent on many factors, but expect something like 6 months from walk-in-the-door to passing out from CMSR if you are lucky with your dates and have no militant Irish/Islamic/Welsh relatives or medical disorders.
  3. Thanks for the snappy reply.
  4. As fluffy says above:

    Depends on units
    Depends on Recruiting NCOs
    Your family backgrounds
    Your health
    Any Criminal misdameaners

looking between 4 weeks to 6 months in my experience.

However have known guys get all the way through training and CIC for Glasgow to find something and were kicked out

  5. 8O must of been something pretty serious to get booted out that late on.
  6. A frigging driving ban of which he had 3 months left to serve!!!!

Had to discharge him return all his kit for it all to get re-issued 3 months later :x :x :x
  7. Oh dear. How did that not come up on any criminal conviction checks?

Hopefully that process should be quick for me as i have no criminal convictions and my family don't live in caves in the tora bora mountains.
  8. Feck knows think part of it was the sytem pushing through at quick speed and glasgow being its usual painfully slow self taking so long to notice. STill back with us now and is a good egg
  9. Thats good to hear.
