Question Time Commentary

Not that long ago. Live audience plus panellists who knew their stuff equals genuine debate, rather than the "bash the Tories" rhetoric we're suffering now.

If you want debate, make debate possible, or suffer what we have now.

I used to like QT, watched it for years, even during Brexit it could provide interest. I tried again last night after joining at the start of the program. Boring, dull and zero information or proper debate doesn't even begin to describe it. Watching tectonic shift is more entertaining and informative.

I lasted 5 minutes after another hiatus from the programme. I think I might be permanently done with it.
My feelings exactly. It's a travesty what the BBC has done with this programme. Truly awful.

YouTube shows episodes when Robin Day and Peter Sissons were in the chair - the quality of the panel, the questions, answers and indeed the audience are a world apart from what is produced now. Sir Robin must be spinning in his grave.

My Bold. True, but they obviously are.
The question for me is, how much of it is down to BBC's assessment of the effectiveness of the opposition and how much of it is down to directed bias?
Is it because the BBC recognise and see the "quality" of the type of person representing Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition these days? What with so many of them curtailing a brief political career with a self inflicted "injury." Then there's the internal party struggle between the failed far left and centre left, not to mention the lot of them tying themselves up in knots over identity politics? Does that lead the likes of the BBC to believe they are duty bound to take up that mantle of opposition in the absence of anything effective?
Or is it because we've got a "luvvies" club of autocrats at the top table, who have carefully cultivated and selected employee's to think a certain way, say certain things and manufacture certain outcomes, based on the politics and beliefs of their University upbringing and Metropolitan Coffee House debates?
I think it's the latter that led to the former, if the former exists at all..
The left of British politics is sitting in an emotionally driven mess of it's own creation. Whilst we wait for it to sort itself out, the sympathetic BBC have got its 6 o'clock, for the better or worse of them both, as so many people now associate the Media and the Left as being allies.

what you are seeing mate is the culmination of Tony Blairs master plan when he insisted 50% go to Uni - he created left wing factory's that produced indoctrinated children into every walk of life, all with the same mindset and beliefs so, no matter which way you now turn, BBC, Police, CS, Politics, NHS, Judiciary etc - all are now infested with 20-30 year olds now in mngt positions and all with the same views on life and political bent - they genuinely dont know they are biased because literally all of their peer group has the same mindset! - a very successful policy for socialism but disastrous for UK plc and harmony amongst the population.

Is anyone bothering tonight?

Ive been thinking about it, but the show trailer before the evening news mentioned the SNP and Scots elections, and my blood pressure just started to rise automatically.

I went to bed early having finished with doing my laundry, so l was thinking about passing on watching it, but I woke up far too early.

I think that l will stay in bed, read a bit more of my book and doze off again. Unless I get hungry.

Decisions, decisions.

It’s very hard to watch the lackies mostly squabbling like spoilt children.

I’m thinking of watching this instead:

I got hungry. The Labour party rep is flapping his gums but since my kettle is boiling, and it's in my living room, l cannot hear him - which is nice.

SNP puppet seems to be getting a hard time about independence. Now talking about the party's financial strategy which seems to be "put it all on black and pray",

It’s funny to watch a tv show where the Lib Dem is the political giant of the bunch

The lib dem chap seems to have a bee in his bonnet about mental health.

He raises a good point.
With a 500% increase in need in some areas since the SNP have been in power its a very serious and growing issue. Post Covid it can only get worse imho.

I honestly thought that the guy on the left was Labour. Turns out that he was Limp Dem. Who knew? Not me, obviously. Shows how much attention that l pay towards the minor parties, l suppose...

On the mental health thing, I agree - it is a problem. It's also more than likely to be one that takes more than a parliament's duration to tackle, but there's no point in not starting on D+1 of the next administration.

Evenin’ all! I’m just catching the end of my once beloved bollocks and it’s now beyond saving I think.
I’ve been out for the first time in months to a local hostelry and had my first drawn pint of Wainwright’s and several double Jameson’s .
The pleasantry of that experience is immense and indescribable.
What a sad ending (slow) to a once pillar like, neutral, informative and fascinating programme.
Mr Day et al (as has been already mentioned) must be spinning in their graves.
Good night we few, we band of biffers that continue to try and connect to this drivel.
“ and by thy great mercy, defend us from the perils of this shite”
