Question Time Commentary

I don't know what I'm doing wrong then. I'm officially too ill to work, yet I'm having to look for a job because all I'm getting is a total £243 a month in benefits, with no possibility of any more.

I know that people are getting shedloads in benefits, but I'm buggered if I know how they do it.
Same here, although I'm fit enough to work. £311.25 per month Universal Credit. And when I do temp work I lose 63p in the pound. Trouble is that I'm a) too old to get pregnant and b) not caring for our lass full time, especially since she is usually working (not at the moment - she's still in hospital).

How very dare someone question immigration.
What do they expect if they record the show in real England? Unless you get the direct train from the very unwokely and racist named Waterloo, Weymouth is very difficult for the non London based woke to get to.

That sounds like income support only. If you're to ill to work and you can prove that to the benefits agency you should be entitled to PIP (personal independence payments). If your illness is mobility you might be able to claim the higher rate of PIP which could also include a blue badge and a vehicle.

You will have to jump (metaphorically) through all the agency hoops, like appointments and having to go to the much maligned medical assessment. Where you will be assessed by an apparent medical professional who will probably have no clinical knowledge of your illness.

As the government is actively trying to get people off the sick, you'll need a very good case to get anything out of them.

Habitual dole claimants all know the loop holes and how to blag the most out of the benefits system. It's a cancer that needs cutting out.

Edited to add: By habitual dole claimants I mean the ones who could work but choose not to, and not people who are entitled to claim what they claim. I'm not taring all claimants with the same brush.

It's Universal Credit, and I don't qualify for a PIP as I'm not bedridden and I still have a pulse.

Oh dear.
How is it being 'promoted' exactly?
Should they have chloroformed her the second she went off woke?

It's funny how certain others opinions/rants are allowed air-time despite having sexist/racist etc etc content and they go unchallenged, in fact are allowed back for repeat performances.

There are numerous examples on QT of members of the BAME community going off on misinformed rants about the likes of ‘racist’ Boris, Tories, blah, blah, but I don’t recall any backlash the next day. However, a female ‘Gammon’ goes off on one and it’s weapons free! As for Owen Jones, give me strength.

You're assuming that the feasibility study and the business case both stack up. In any case this would be a british project funded by UK PLC, no yellow starred sphincter plaques in sight.
Well it least it won't be a UK PLC funded project that is either in London or connected to London that we all end up paying for. London Olympics, London Sewage system, London Crossrail, HS2 and Heathrow's 3rd runway.

I think that we are experiencing creeping Wokeness. It seems that every day the boundaries of Woke outrage increase, and the boundaries of free speech decrease.

It's evident by looking at how much more vicious the Woke bullying has become over just the past couple of years. Opinions that were merely conservative just a short time ago are now 'outrageous' and are increasingly labelled as hate speech, with worryingly, the accompanying threat of legal action against those who think differently.

I think the best defence against this is humour. As we see every day, they will blame the evil Tories for everything under the sun, and then, when soundly beaten by facts and history, will, in extremis, resort to accusations of racism, sexism or any other 'ism' that happens to be lying about.

What they can't handle is being laughed at. Ridicule suggests to them that not only do others know more than they do, but also that they slightly pity them.

It unnerves them and most of the time they just don't know how to handle it.

My sister had a problem with her wrists, caused by years of catering (cutting veg etc).

She applied for the relevant benefit and was told to get a doctor's written opinion. This was rejected as not enough, and she was then told to get another from a different doctor. She did this, and it too, was rejected. She then went to two wrist specialists and received written opinions from both of them, these too were rejected as being inadequate.

In the end, she took the DWP to court, and, with the collection of written medical evidence that she had amassed by then, won hands down and was awarded the benefit, plus any accrued to that date.

What was clear was that the DWP were doing absolutely anything and everything to avoid paying out. It was obvious that whatever an individual was actually entitled to went out the window and the intent was to obstruct and bamboozle until the claimant simply gave up trying.

Things may have changed but I used to work for the DWP and the default setting was to pay. Not paying had to be signed off at a very senior level.

Oh dear.
The woman raised the point about 'health tourists' abusing and costing the NHS and yet Sarkar completely ignored what the woman as talking about and turned it to the NHS needing immigrants to function - completely missing the point the woman was making. Typical bloody lefty not listening to others point of view.

It’s always worth noting that the likes of Sarkar never mention how many ‘foreign’ workers the health services in mainland Europe have!

I expect she's now being investigated as a dangerous right wing extremist likely to go postal at any moment and with links to various Nazi sympathisers. She'll be removed for re-education shortly. These days one is simply not allowed a common sense opinion. We all have to be on the woke express to the destruction of our society. Utterly bonkers!
