Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Just a quick question from a member of the ADF: What is the name of the Beitish Army Ground Search technique - for caches, bodies, etc - that involves identifying a prominent landmark (tree, building etc) and then search using that PoR? I belive that is has an Anglo-Saxon name?

  2. Winthrop.

  3. currently renmamed to 'Reference points' but univesally known as Winthrop Method

  4. Thanks to you both Baseplate and MittMayo, you have won me some beer. Cheers to the UK.

  5. Hah! Just as I thought, beer involved-typical Digger!

MM and I will humbly accept our share in the spirit of cementing Oz/UK relations.

  6. Whilst I would love to share the beer with you; with the exchange rate the way it is - you could buy one of our breweries! But make it something good like Coopers, Boags or Cascade.

And yes, typical digger: beer, fighting and sex - not always in that order.

  7. Concurrent activity-combine the three :D
