Quarantine - 14 days on your return if you venture aboard

The only thing I am missing is football.
Have you noticed how they are desperate to bring it back , with free coverage on TV ?
2000 years ago , it was free tickets to the Coliseum and a loaf of bread .
See how easily you're bought ?

So, you've done a deep dive on my personal wealth have you?
We've run up the most spectacular debt in the shortest period of time since Chamberlain asked Hitler outside for what turned out to be a 6 year punch up .
The debt is truly eye watering , all of which will have to paid for , and let's not forget , we're about to leave Europe without a deal ;

Working ? = Higher VAT , possibly higher income tax , definitely higher fuel and alcohol tax
State pensioner ? = Forget the triple lock and indexation , pensions frozen
Public sector worker ? = 5 year wage freeze ( they won't complain when they see the 15% unemployed clamouring for their jobs outside )
Landlord ? = Higher CGT, for sure , plus yet more taxes on rental income
2nd Home owner ? = Council tax on 2nd homes up even further
Gambler ? = Return of gambling tax
Regular traveller ? = Higher APD and VAT on flight tickets
Homeowner ? = Govt will have to raise interest rates to prop up the £ and raise further loans , all of which will be passed on to the banks who will pass it on to lenders .
Everyone apart from billionnaires are going to be paying for this .
They will be left alone , supposedly in the hope that they can rebuild the economy, because the Treasury won't have the spare cash .
Sadly , to draw another analogy with the war , a lot of people will see socialism as the new world order again .

We all have to make sacrifice, we aren't the first generation and we won't be the last.

All of this simply feeds the theory that it's a fictitious emergency designed to keep us at home and scared .
On top of dissuading us from travelling , other measure are in place that will alter our way of life massively
A think tank has predicted that 30,000 pubs will close for good ( that's roughly half of them )
Online retail's percentage of sales has advanced by 5 years in two months
The use of cash is decreasing rapidly
They will be making mobile phones a legal tool to track you for infection tracing purposes
Working from home will become far more prevalent , no doubt with yet more spying tools to confirm you are in fact working
With the huge public debt being run up , you can bet your collective b*llocks that wealth redistribution measures and taxes will become then norm . I suspect that Death Duty will rise sharply , along with CGT , and the enterprising middle class will become a thing of the past ( all of this under the Tories' watch , too )
Rant over, I'm down the local to buy draught beer at the back door , while I still can

Who by, the new world order?
The existing one ...
Imagine you're the RQMS for 8 billion people , and have to prepare a feeding plan for all of them , some like eating steak every day, twice a day , some haven't eaten at all for four days .
The simple solution becomes soy bean stew twice a day all round , that's what the UN is working towards .

Starvation in third world countries existed long before covid 19 surfaced.

Yes , we all know that , and climate activists have been ramping up their propaganda for years that it's all the West's consumerism that's to blame , you know the palm oil stuff , the cows farting methane , the oceans full of plastic , air pollution caused by car ownership , air travel and coal fired power stations ?
Then , along comes this disease , they've locked down 2/3rd's of the world , and the message changes to one of " See ? Dolphins in Sunderland docks ! No more air pollution in Beijing ! Herds of deer in Hyde park ! People able not only to work from home , but to keep in touch with family on Zoom ! Everybody exercising ! Everybody riding bicycles ! everybody clapping for the nurses ! ( happens elsewhere , too ) "
Governments have suddenly discovered how is easy it is to control the world through fear , so effectively it seems , that no one wants to send their kids to school or go to work , but the fear vanishes within touching distance of the sea , and they are having to think of ways to stop that .
Next week's headlines will be " Sea water full of Covid " or " Man eating , covid infected sharks spotted off Southend "

There'll even bigger cuts to the police , and muggers will kill you in your bed
We're all in it together , remember
We have Police?
Haven't seen a single one round here in over 2 months

I don't think that's really the case, however, it had crossed my mind. I think a nasty virus broke out in China for whatever reason, it's killing lots especially oldies, and to stop a major catastrophe the current living format had to change to avert making the situation a whole lot worse. Obviously, the effect on climate etc has been positive, and has been noticed. As in every situation, there is positives and negatives, for example the reduction in crime, all will have been observed, but I don't think we are being herded like sheep for government purposes, I think merely it's done because we are going through a nasty pandemic.

How dare you want to get old and enjoy that retirement you worked so hard for 50 years to enjoy!

COVID-19 hasn't finished with us just yet. Watch that 8 billion reduce by a tenth.

Of course when the time is right, some on here going on as if it's the end of the world. FFS, they've only told people to stay in for a few weeks and help keep some people alive.
They asked us to stay in so the NHS wouldn't be overwhelmed and could build its resilience. That's been a success, now we have to restart the economy and deal with all the other health issues which were effectively put on hold while the anti-COVID measures were applied.

There's no vaccine and we can't stay in lock down forever so we may as well get on with it. The vulnerable will just have to do the best they can and take their chances.

I don't think COVID will do that but we are due something nasty that could.

'Harsh' but fair and pragmatic. There was a letter in the DT the other week from a retired 2-Star (can't recall the name) who said essentially the same thing. Treat this as we did during the PIRA campaign on the UK mainland and NW Europe; accept that the threat is there and won't be beaten any time soon, accept that bad things will happen but go about your daily life whilst being vigilant.

Nobody is saying lockdown forever, this isn't done by a long way yet. However, I'll still choose to listen to government advice, as opposed to joe bloggs on the internet.
