Putin's Useful Idiots in USA

We know : ' steer clear of foreign entanglements '
George Washington.

American Nazism and Madison Square Garden | The National WWII Museum | New Orleans

The height of the German-American Bund’s popularity was marked by the February 1939 rally at Madison Square Garden. Kuhn and other American Nazi leaders called the event a “mass demonstration for true Americanization” and used patriotic imagery alongside Nazi imagery and antisemitic rhetoric. Twenty-two thousand Bund members carried signs and banners with messages such as, “Wake up America! Smash Jewish Communism” and “Stop Jewish Domination of Christian Americans.” Speakers at the rally incorporated antisemitic messages and Nazi propaganda throughout their speeches. Messages which were openly praised by attendants who performed Nazi salutes toward three-story tall banners of George Washington flanked by Nazi swastikas. In Fritz Kuhn’s keynote address, he demanded that “…our government be returned to the American People who founded it.” The Bund’s definition of Americanism was actually a concrete manifestation of German racism and hatred based on racial and religious differences. Hermann Schwinn, the West Coast leader of the Bund, reinforced that idea when he labeled Jews as a threat to American identity and attacked New York City Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia as “the Jew Lumpen LaGuardia.”

Yup,

and after 1940 they got put in jail for their beliefs too.

Six degrees of separation: I spent some time a few years ago, in Afghanistan, with the grandson of the BUF leader.

ETA: and on Wednesday I met a lovely Scottish lady whose Dad had been detained and sent to the Isle of Man during the War, by virtue of being Italian. When he was released he became a coalman . Her husband's father on the other hand, fought at St Valery as part of the 51st Highland Brigade, that got left behind when Dunkirk ended.

He evaded South and got as far as Gibraltar.

Of course Charlie wound up shooting down a Jap Sonia while technically a civilian tech rep in the pacific.. FDR the miserable bastard he was, refused to allow Lindy to serve during the war. So he became a aircraft manufacturers rep. Flew 50 missions with the Marines of MAG-31 (VMF-115) in an F4U-1A Corsair in the Marshall's,

Funny enough those Americans didn't hold his pre pearl harbor pacifism against him. Though he did put McGuire on his ass several times when tommy tried to order him around.

When it was found out in Washington that he flew combat the Squadron OC was relieved of command and sent back to the USA for 3 months punishment.

He showed the pilots valuable lessons in extending their range by adjusting their mix and prop settings
