Putin accuses Poland of colluding with Hitler

In fairness to Putin, he has a point. Poland was a right-wing military dictatorship in the run-up to 1939 and Jozef Beck, the Foreign Minister, was the first European politician to propose a 'Final Solution' to Europe's Jewish problem.
As opposed to the Soviet Union under Stalin?

The Soviets were several years away from being ready for war.
No ones truly ready even if they initiate it.

German navy caught by surprise and not where they wanted to be (IIRC they expected war in 44 and were building accordingly)
Heer was still horsedrawn for the bulk of its units and considered its machinegun armed Panzer 1's to be training vehicles not fit for combat

Any chance Putin could just enjoy his massive fortune and stop being a cünt? He’s like an annoying little kid for fück’s sake.
Happy New Year you fücking prick.

They were already fighting one against the Japanese. They waited until the conclusion of hostilities there before invading Poland.

And that's the whole point. Stalin wanted to enable Germany to concentrate her forces against the West so that there would be an exhausting stalemate war between the Capitalist Powers just as in 1914-18 and then the Soviet Army would steamroller Europe with the help of Communist fifth columnists several years later. That's why he enabled Hitler to start WW2 and took advantage territorially as well.
I believe that I previously posted on another thread that the Soviets waited until the peace treaty with Japan went into effect before joining in on the invasion of Poland.

However, the Germans were a much tougher enemy than the Japanese. I suspect that even if the war had not started until the Soviets had thought they were ready, they still would not have been as ready as they needed to be, much like France and Britain found out.

Even if the Germany navy had built their surface fleet to the point they had planned on I don't think it would have made any difference in the final outcome of the naval war. The naval treaties had unravelled by the start of the war, and the British had already started on new classes of capital ships, leaving the Germans no further ahead.

The German army couldn't fully mechanise as they didn't have a supply of oil. One of the primary objectives of the invasion of the Soviet Union was to capture the Caucasus oil fields, which they failed to do.

The oil situation by the way would also limit the options available to the German fleet.

Although in kicking off in May 1940 Hitler did the correct thing - arguably not backing down in 39 as well.
Much is made of had he waited x more years then there would have been y more Uboats or z more Tanks etc, but much like the Luftwaffe 46 crowd -it tends to be guilty of counting German noses and ignoring what the Allies were doing.
The Germans were not ready - but the French and British even less so - the longer he waited the stronger the German forces became but the French and British were starting from a lower level and so comparatively their strength increases faster and if ww2 starts in 44 - France is up and running and Germany has no chance but to fight the attritional war it cant win (The Ardennes defences are completed and the forces covering much better equipped the longer Dolfy waits)

Going early with what he had whilst he held the edge in training and experience was his best hope -

Bread and circuses. If he doesn't keep the average Russian distracted by military triumphs and foreign scare-mongering, they'll have more time to reflect on the poor quality of living in their post-Communist utopia, and then 1917 will replay itself, to the non-reversible detriment of Putin's health.

There is already a rumble in the jungle.

Agreed. I think Vlad knows he's on borrowed time, and has made enough enemies inside Russia that if he were to lose power he'd be floating in the Moskva pretty quickly, so will do whatever it takes to stay where he is.
