    That's an interesting term!

Just another nail in the coffin of Russian democracy then. The corruption of Russia, which started from the top and went all the way to the bottom during the cold war, came to the surface during the transition to a 'free' Russia, but all the old power players, corrupt to the core are still there, and that includes Putin.

One wonders where Russia will head next; demanding the North Pole with threats of violence? They are, after all, rebuilding the Russian fleet, threatening their neighbours AND the West again.

The difference this time is that they are captialists, and have huge untapped resources underground which they are actively seeking to fund their 'expansion' and re-arming.

The West pretty much bankrupted the old Soviet Union, but now that a capitalist Russia is resurgent, we might have our work cut out this time.
  2. I'm not so sure. Some things may come to surprise Russia, like say Chinese interests? And that fact that capitalist nations are indeed globally tied at the waist.

I don't think Russia ever was a democratic country.
