  • End of 2,357 years of Sinhalese independence. - and that should make us ALL proud.

Moral of the post - It took em 22 years but don't mess with the British.

Ok, it came up over something to do with the Schleswig Holstein Question in History
Wasn’t that something to do with the flipside of female sovereignty in that the two kingdoms were ruled by women with no male heirs.

The pissed one never mentioned the British Isles, only the dear old bucolic England that he sees through the bottom of a pint glass, and the list of islands that I saw was less than 200. That included lake and river islands, but if it’s wrong I’ll take your word for it.
Scotland alone has 790 offshore islands, are you sure your list wasn't maybe inhabited only?

The total number of inhabited islands in the British Isles is under 200, including Eire.

As an inhabited island is hardly likely to be covered at high tide the number of English ones is around 140. Some are inhabited at certain times only (holidays, scientific research, lighthouses, maybe some military usage etc.).

Google the total amount of island in the British isles, inhabited and non inhabited, it amounts to well over 6000+
