  1. Recently my computer has been slowing down alot and when consulting the task manager, shows the CPU to be working at 100%, with iexplore.exe being the main culprit (varies between 97-99%), however, in the past this hasn't been the case. It seems to be occuring at random, sometimes it won't be a problem at all and sometimes when I start up it just eats up the CPU, being largely a computer I have no idea what could be causing this, any ideas?

The processor is a Intel Pentium 4 by the way.

  2. hi you should scand your pc to see if there are any adware or spyware programs running in the back ground your iexplore should not be takening up so much cpu try this http://www.lavasoftusa.com/

  3. look at running processes and if in doubt google them

  4. Download Hijackthis Run it - "do a system scan and save a log file".

Go here - http://www.hijackthis.de/index.php#anl - copy and paste the log file details into that and press analyze. It will give you details of everything that you are running and whether it's safe or not.

Secondly defrag your harddrive(s). Download CCleaner and run that. It's a super program that gets rid of all the crap such as temporary files etc. Also download and run Spybot Search and Destroy and Adaware 2008 free.

Update your antivirus and run a full scan.
