Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Good idea but they'll ignore your petition, mate. They always do.
  2. We dont want a privately funded hospital, we require a PUBLIC funded hospital.

You can build your own private hospital tomorrow if you have the funds :)
  3. Except there is no guarantee it would be used as it would need to go through a procurement/commissioning exercise if it was to be used by the MOD and there is already a military psychiatric service and suitable care provided by RCDM. Not quite sure why anyone would commission hospital based healthcare from an organisation that appears to be raising money to function by selling things through a website or donation either.

Hospitals, even small ones, are hideously expensive to run, maintain, staff and keep to the correct regulatory standards and by the sounds of it would need operating theatres, ICT/ITU/HDU beds, ortho beds, other surgical beds if they are to do what the petition claims they want to. You are looking at a substantial building and I'm wondering whether they've actually done the sums for this, as they'd have to raise a staggering sum for the initial build and recruitment, and still not convinced the MOD would even use it.

I havve no problems with the other aims of the website, but fear this one is unrealistic.

Seconded. What's the point of asking permission to open a hospital is you are going to be paying for it? HMG will simply say "well done, get on it" and then wash their hands of any and all responsibility.
  5. According to the petition they're hoping to land casualties at St. Athan and then do all the treatment there....simply not going to happen.
  6. also doubt it will happen, but signed anyway.
