Priti Patel the new Home Sec wants to hang crims, lots of them.

The screeching from the left will reach a cacophony that the Mars rover will pick up on its mic.

Doubt it.

I watched HM Immigration Service capability and capacity declined rapidly during my service.

Particularly my HMIS Intelligence counterparts, who all but vanished.

I would be confident that it has not been built back up again since I stopped having anythign to do with them. Indeed, I hear some funny stories from old mates in Ports policing...

So again, pass what laws you want. If you cannot enforce or uphold them, it is somewhat pointless.

Unless it is about appearing tough. Which it might be. Which is fine.

But let us not mix up appearance and substance?

Either Priti merely puts on a show for appearances sake, or really isn't in any substantive way in control of her department.

I suspect the latter.

True!

And "Action Fraud" to ensure a first class investigation of fraud complaints from the public.
[sarcasm]

Action Fraud isn't that a bot that sends all messages to /dev/null

Sends them all to the filing machine with teeth for sure.

Local force can ignore crime reports as they should be reported to action fraud, and then doesn't accept referrals from action fraud.

There's some fraud here, and it's in the Home Office. ;)

No matter how much money the NHS could give the police it still wouldn’t solve the issue that the police aren’t remotely qualified to deal with mental health issues.

I’ve always thought that teaming health professionals with police is the best solution.

A car with a mental health specialist and a police officer would cover lots of bases.
One could deal with the mental health side, and have contacts within that sphere, the other could enforce the law if needed, and be able to take someone into custody if needed.

The above would be a bit like how the police and fire service cooperate for arson investigations or education.

For those used to asking for help from social services, the idea of a person on a shift, and who was unable to refuse to help on friday afternoon or the weekend would be a big plus imho.

In my own former job I found that far too often the mental health teams were far too happy to pass in proper channeled requests away from social services and on to police.

Hmm perhaps the govt. should revisit this Care in the Community - Wikipedia
As looking at many reality police & A&E programmes mental health problems take a large amount of time that both areas could use on other jobs as it doesn't seem to work!

The Party of Law and Order??? Really?

Nothing to do with this, or any other party. The rot set in years ago when the liberal pinky left wing do gooders decided little pieces of shit shouldn't have their ears clipped or a boot up the arrse which they deserved. Now it's a case of the tail wagging the dog, and this poor bloke is fighting for his life because of the prats who thought it a good idea to stop children being smacked. Sometimes a clip is needed, because some kids will just keep on pushing.

Perhaps our Grandparents were right. It seems that with every successive generation we are getting softer, more snowflakey, and the world is going to hell in a handbasket.

The oceans are being emptied of fish, polluted, as is the atmosphere. Overpopulation is creating pockets of impoverished peoples who are all swarming to places of plenty.

The world has become an infinitely more dangerous place with various nations who now have the means to destroy the world, at each others throats. Countries are now tearing themselves apart with internal dissent.

The younger generations quickly becoming more toxic earlier without meaningful checks...in the name of child protection. Racial and gender equality has become a ‘right’ rather than being earned through action.

Tell you Mickey it’s a f*****g jungle out there.

I don't think the pikies have yet realised what the 'kill the bill' has in store for them :D

Rocking up to anywhere and taking over will be a criminal offence rather than civil, should be interesting.

What I have noticed is that the current lot are great at introducing no nonsense 'make it so' legislation in a fanfare of publicity (very often duplicating or overlapping existing legislation in the process).

They will then fail to support the legislation with the means or resources required to uphold it. The legislation itself will not be clear and unambiguous and consequently neither will be any response to any breach.

I don't think that pikeys have much to fear.

The bill is aimed at white middle class trustafarians, there's no guarantee that plod will enforce it on pikeys

Pretty much all of them since Maggie went,

Blair and Browns lot were another bunch great at introducing evermore legislation instead of enforcing existing.

I say pretty much all as the SNP seems very keen on introducing and enforcing legislation regarding their chosen definition and application of hate speech

My point exactly. How many years does it take? The thread title says the Home Sec wants to hang crims and lots of them. I wish she'd make a fecking start. I'm fed up waiting for some strong action on Law and Order.
Still. Elections coming up soon. Hope someone comes to my door. They'll get a rant on the subject!

One of the recent protests in Bristol was a ‘trespass’ protest, with lots of banners proclaiming that travellers should have the right to pitch wherever they want.
