Priti Patel the new Home Sec wants to hang crims, lots of them.

"Ministers have signed off a £340,000 payment to the civil servant who blew the whistle on the Priti Patel bullying scandal.

In one of the highest compensation awards made to a departing Whitehall official, the Home Office agreed to settle with Sir Philip Rutnam to avoid an employment tribunal hearing.
"

“Not exactly an earth shattering amount then, given those figures”.

You see this is what pisses me off. His mate says 'He ain't done nuffin' SECONDS after the twat boots the male cop in the nads and belts the lass in the face!

Can we have some actual deterrent please? Hard labour? Village stocks for a bit of humiliation?

We don’t, it’s a horrendous misuse of taxpayer’s money. A flagrant breach of The Ministerial Code with no consequences, except for taxpayers.
Then why did you use part of my quote then? Naturally you missed out the bit that gave it perspective.

A man of
Sadly, no longer the party of law and order, strong defence and low taxes.
I fear I'll have to vote for them again in the hope they do better next time.

Of course, not all (perhaps former) tax payers will have been affected.
Those deported as a result of the Windrush scandal may still be out of the UK, so won’t need to help pay Rutnam.............I don’t expect they will be upset by that fact.

Snout in the party funds.

Aside from the amount for the makeover, which even allowing for it being a listed building seems rather expensive I am a bit confused.

The Tory party rather than the tax payer paid for the revamp. Isn't that a good thing?

Headlines grrr from wets as usual, shame he didn't read the article, which is a monument to ifs, buts, maybes and vagueness. It also has what looks like a badly photoshopped picture. That might just be the DM's standard of printing though

Yeah but that would be anti social and not a very nice thing to do. (Unlike what they did to her of course)

Anybody who straightened them ******* out would get a day in the pub on me. Several even.
I think this country is fucked and needs drastic measures.

Just for the record I think that is a surprisingly small amount bearing in mind his salary/position.

I once sacked a IO grade civil servant (for showing porn to an under 18 trainee on his phone). It went to industrial tribunal, who found in his favour "because the material was readily available on the internet"

I initially refused to re-employ him at which point "compensation" ie a payoff is calculated. For him it was £110,000, which puts the payoff agreed in the Patel case into perspective.

As it happens my boss bottled it and told me to re-employ him. I told him if he wanted him re-employed then he needed to do it, because I wasn't going to. Which he did.

Yet another reason I did not quite make it to CDS.
