Priti Patel the new Home Sec wants to hang crims, lots of them.

Well its true, she is a really strong advocate of the death penalty and also no freind of the extreme wing of Alans snack bar - the latter fact alone will launch a full on KultureKampf with the Home Offices senior staff.

I think we will see her totally reform the Ministry after a very hard series of battles , the briefing against her will be epic, expect to lots of 'Islamophobic' smears.

The prospect of having knife gang members hung in gibbets on London cross roads is regrettably slim but she will be going for the rape gangs including those who turned turned a blind eye.

This will be one to watch

She's no Theresa May that's for certain, she's always comes across well on Question Time

They're all shady, that's how they got there. Nice to see someone with balls in authority. Never forget Stalin was a bank robber first. Her first issue will be getting rid of the Whitehall civil servants who don't follow her line, same issue Churchill had when appointed PM.

Wasn't she kicked out of her last ministerial post for some shady shenanigans.
Let they who have not conducted their own individual foreign policy cast the first stone.

The minister quit after being summoned back from a trip to Uganda and Ethiopia by Downing Street after it emerged she failed to be candid with May about 14 unofficial meetings with Israeli ministers, businesspeople and a senior lobbyist.
Priti Patel forced to resign over unofficial meetings with Israelis

Bring it on BIG time!.

It is far more than high time the tide was turned against the touchy-feely do-gooders in the Home Office.

Trouble is, as the OP points out, these people will not just roll over, but will fight to retain their grubby little empires like cornered alley-cats.

Expect the going to get rough...…..

That's the catholic church on the target list then?
And more than a few grubby corrupt Labour councils (allegedly) from Op north, and a few police chiefs on the target list as well.

That's the touchy feely ones who have been sending long term British residents and the American spouses of British people out of the country then.

Bunch of softies.

Whilst letting the real criminals off with either no punishment of soft sentences.

Who issues the guidelines to judges to impose soft sentences?.

You want to be looking in the MOJ for that - it hasn’t been done in the Home Office for a fair few years.
Then they too are overdue for some reform. Hopefully this will not be long in coming.

The last Tory Home Secretary to actually bring down crime in real terms (not by fudging statistics) was Michael Howard. He did that by the simple process of building more prison places and chucking hardened criminals into them. If you're locked up, you can't re-offend.

I call it salvage or secure.
  • For the one off offender, give them the training/educational opportunities to build a crime-free future.
  • For the repeat offender, increasingly long jail sentences.
Hopefully, that's a philosophy Priti Patel will subscribe to.
