The heart of the site is the forum area, including:
Will £50 million negate the effect of the influx of refugees on Jordan? Perhaps, if they pay them to travel somewhere else. Not sure who would take them, though.
Am I being pessimistic, or is this £50,000,000 in exchange for King Abdullah signing up and kindly offering to finally take Abu Qatada off our hands?
You're being pessimistic (or cynical). It's additional funding on top of the existing commitments, eg this release from summer 2012 (before Plebgate):
UK & Ireland: Britain Plans to Increase Funding for Syrian Refugees
But doesn't the £50m include kit we will leave behind in Afghanistan? Easier to shift over there than take home. Priced high. Including training and intelligence? So its not just cash. So that we offset this against our commitments to African aid? The £50m costs far less and we get good-will out of it and a stake in Syria's future?
