Press release: Statement following meeting between Prime Minister and King Abdullah

Ministry of Defence said:
A Downing Street spokesperson said:
The focus of discussions between the Prime Minister and King Abdullah was the G8. The Prime Minister said he was pleased with the outcome, but there was still a long way to go on Syria.
King Abdullah said that more refugees were crossing the border every day and he expressed his concern about the effect this was having on the Jordanian state. The Prime Minister shared his concern and outlined the package of support that he had announced for the Syrian crisis at the G8 yesterday. Within the £175 million, £50 million will go to Jordan.

Will £50 million negate the effect of the influx of refugees on Jordan? Perhaps, if they pay them to travel somewhere else. Not sure who would take them, though.
Am I being pessimistic, or is this £50,000,000 in exchange for King Abdullah signing up and kindly offering to finally take Abu Qatada off our hands?
But doesn't the £50m include kit we will leave behind in Afghanistan? Easier to shift over there than take home. Priced high. Including training and intelligence? So its not just cash. So that we offset this against our commitments to African aid? The £50m costs far less and we get good-will out of it and a stake in Syria's future?
