If I recall correct , the previous Mersey, Spey and Severn were all RNR tenders ( 200 ton River class minesweepers)...these new OPV's look slightly similar.

But the yard in Gorleston which built the old River class minesweepers went out of business a few years back.

I expect the RN used the old blueprints and BAeS modded it.

The original HMS Tamar was the RN base in Hong King, set around Victoria Basin where the Hong Kong Sqn were moored.

It would have made more sense to name the follow-on ships after the HK squadron 'Peacock' class boats.

If they have any more to name, then the river Piddle which flows directly into Poole Harbour is surely worthy of consideration.
