POTL And How It Is Calculated

Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Hello
I'm looking for confirmation of what the title says, really. I'm led to believe that one is entitled to 2.5 days for every month mobilised plus one day for every nine spent in theatre.

Could any pay gurus out there confirm this?

    Thanks in advance.

  2. 1 day for every 9 deployed (including R+R).

  3. As above, plus if you are OOA during any holiday entitlement (easter, xmas etc) that gets added as well. However, in citing the above, we have bods on UK backfill who still get their entitlement which includes any training period, which I believe is right at 2.5 days per month, so you can't claim both, if that is what you are trying to do.

  4. Strictly, POTL is just the 1/9 - the rest is your Annual Leave Allowance. You also get any bank holidays worked (i.e. all of them!) when you were in theatre.

For TA, this does make a difference - they are fairly strict about you having your POTL off but you can go back to work for your ALA and in-lieu (with permission of CO RTMC and losing your RA, of course.)

  5. Thanks for the prompt replies.
