  1. Hiya,
I joined the Int Corp and like many others saw that it is actually full of massive egos and back stappers. Ihave been looking to transfer to the RE in the draftsman trade. I was just wondering if anybody could give advice for making the move? Good or bad move? :?
  2. A good trade to go for, good civvy qualifications. Just to let you know that they are merging design draughtmans and draughtsman electrical and mechanical at class 2 level with the option to specialise at class one. I believe you get an HNC in building studies at class on DD level, I don't know about E and M. Depends what floats your boat. Depending on where you get posted denpends on if you will actually be doing your trade or not. If you manage to get to Chilwell or a Construction Supervision Cell in a regiment you are sorted, if you don't you will end up in a field section or as a lot of drafties do in sigs troop. Make sure you are fit before you go and do your B3 combat engineer course becuase it is quite physically demanding at times. Good luck.
  3. JoF,

This isnt a pitch to keep you in or a post to slag you off, i was just wondering how long you had been in?

If you are still at Chicksands - then you still have the option - depending on how far into the A3 you are - to transfer, after that you are stuck for 3 years (IIRC)

  4. It would probably be the most intelligent move you make
  5. I left Int Corp training about 2 and a bit years ago so nearly up on the 3 yr point. I have just had enough of it to be honest. Cheers for the advice guys.

    The earlier the better.
  7. Come on in my son, you won't regret it

Just do it. Let us know how you get on.
  9. I would seriously reconsider your Trade Option. As a DD you will more than likely end up sticking maps together and amending the squadron library. As an ex DD civil and structural, a better route if you want to persue this trade is go M&E, you end up with more options in later years if you opt to stay in or broader horizons if you decide to go into civvy street
  10. Anyone got any ides if i would keep me one lonely stripe if i were to transfer?
  11. What is a back Stapper then???
