Poppy sellers branded bogus callers

One foot back on the ground please. Can we get some verification from the local Cop Shop before everyone goes a-ranting? Were these proper coppers or PCSO?

A Dorset Police spokesman insisted the officers had said ' nothing untoward'. He added: 'Many people, particularly the elderly, are worried about bogus callers.

'We do not have any problem with legitimate collecting of this kind.'
Some clarification on that rather contradictory statement would be good too. Is Mrs. Hinton allowed to continue selling Poppies or not?

Why does it matter?

A Dorset Police spokesman insisted the officers had said ' nothing untoward'. He added: 'Many people, particularly the elderly, are worried about bogus callers.
'We do not have any problem with legitimate collecting of this kind.'

Quite so. Good of the Mail to leave this snippet of qualifying information for the very last paragraph of their outrage piece.

Indeed it would. If they have no problem, why were the ladies stopped in the first place. A show of ID should've been suffice to send plod or plastic plod, whichever it was, on their way.

if this doesn't work I'm going to give up trying to quote a quote
