  1. From the title of the tread I expected to here about the new Pope breaking out the Chanel and Max Factor and giving him a makeover. I suppose he would be in need of a freshen up after a few weeks underground.
  2. A bucket of foundation and a dab of formaldehyde behind each ear, candles and soft music, who knows what the evening will bring.
  3. To the Editor, Catholic Herald...

Sir, I have recently heard of Benedict XVI's intention to beatify John Paul II on a "fast-track" basis. My own great-uncle, a Jesuit Priest, died several years ago and so far has not progressed towards sainthood. Several of the small boys he counselled repeatedly during their time as choir or altar boys have repeatedly said it was a miracle "he didn't get caught" or "me Da didn't punch his teeth right down his throat". Once again it is one law for the rich, another for the poor.
