Police shot in Portadown 'hit pensioner's window'

#1
It is understood a shot fired by the police in Portadown on Thursday night went through the window of a pensioner's home.
A police spokesperson said that an officer discharged one shot during disturbances at a house in Obin Street.
It happened at about 2030 GMT. There are not believed to have been any injuries.
Two men, aged 51 and 36, have been arrested. The disturbances are not thought to have been sectarian.
SDLP councillor Michael McGoldrick said local residents were "shocked" by the incident.

Absolutely nuts.

For the old farts. Obins street was the original disputed march in Portadown. That was 'The Tunnel' area, scene of the umbrella wars until it was 'agreed' the route was shifted to the Gervaghy Rd. Obins St now full of Portuguese (t or it was the last time I was up at Drumcree)

Yawn, Im too tired to drive the outrage bus tonight.
Nobody would be bothered if the headline said "Shot fired by British Soldier hit cloth nailed over window of compound occupied by elderly Afgan couple"

Stuffed full of portugeezers but still mainly populated by "locals". An area where many (some foreign nationals included) have very little regard for police. Would not be unheard of for a "routine" stop to go tits up very quickly down there, although why a shot was discharged through somebody's window is probably best left to the inevitable investigation to figure out.......

What is it with plod and windows? This is the latest in police window related violence.

During the two recent student flare ups the plod stood round as students first put the windows through at Tory HQ then ignored the crusties little fcukers doing the windows on their own vehicle.

Worst of all they pumped 5 out of 11 shots into a barrister while attempting to take out a window frame in Chelsea.

They must have something against transparency.

UTV News - Bullet 'narrowly missed' pensioner

Moral of the story. Well two morals actually.

1. Don't bring a knife to a gunfight
2. More range time required.

I'd hazard a guess that nobody is going to have a happy christmas out of this. Except maybe the various solicitors. On the plus side, nobody killed/injured and suspects apprehended for fairly serious offences.

Quote my dad (ex UDR/RUC/PSNI) struggling to contain his laughter at the news... "Oh well, at least she didn't break his 'nice' window ornament!..."
