What could possibly go wrong?
I don't know much about the cops, but I find that a bit worrying.Oh yes.
Home Office opened up Inspector and Superinendent ranks to direct entry.
Met has direct entry DCs as well.
You find it worrying? All us old cops find it even more worrying. We thought that the CID was dodgy enough when we were serving!I don't know much about the cops, but I find that a bit worrying.
Probably not, but according to the judge, the video would incite others to do so.
When they removed the beak's sense of humour, did they just say, "Stuff it, let's take the entire brain while we're at it" ?
Clearly you are not cut out for a career in the police then.I don't know much about the cops, but I find that a bit worrying.
Raglan, Cardigan and Lucan...Imagine if the forces had direct entry, what sort of narcisstic self serving twits would you end up with?
It’s interesting, no Defence Secretary would dare suggest or implement direct entry at Major or Lt Col level into the military like May did to the police.
Even after the sub par performance of many military middle and senior leadership over the Afghan and Iraq campaigns. The criticism of the police by May, could just as easily be applied to the military.
The military are still sacred cows who cannot be openly criticised by politicians for fear of being seen to be unpatriotic.
It has been suggested by the current CDS though and you can't fault his logic. It’s interesting, no Defence Secretary would dare suggest or implement direct entry at Major or Lt Col level into the military like May did to the police.
In one of the 'Flashman' books, possibly 'Flashman at the charge' he makes the observation that had the Crimean war been more successful then a lot of the failings of the command structure would have been ignored. He adds (the books being 'written' round the beginning of the 20th century) that the army wasn't doing so well in South Africa, where the commanders had not purchased their commissions. Which is an interesting point.Raglan, Cardigan and Lucan...![]()
