Read this article through, note the final few paragraphs and especially the final sentence.

So Solid Crew rapper Harvey was spared a jail sentence today, despite being convicted of assaulting a police officer who wanted to stop him for using a mobile phone while driving.

Harvey – real name Michael Junior Harvey – was convicted by justices in St Albans, Herts, of one count of assault and one of using threatening words or behaviour.

It was alleged he grabbed the shirt of Pc Keith Harron as the officer tried to arrest him in Welwyn Garden City, Herts, in January.

The court heard he called the policeman a “f****** pussy” and ripped off his tie in the scuffle. Officers had to use two blasts of CS spray to restrain the rapper and TV presenter.

In evidence today, Harvey, 26, claimed Pc Harron had been rude and aggressive towards him and had raised the tension by shouting at him in the street.

The celebrity said he fronted campaigns teaching inner city children about police stop and search laws and would never be rude or aggressive to police.

Harvey, who is getting married to Mis-Teeq star Alesha Dixon a week Saturday, said he was left “embarrassed and humiliated” when passing children recognised him as he was being arrested.

Magistrate Peter Stanley said he would not be jailing the rapper for the attack but would consider a community punishment.

He said: “There was an element of shouting which both (of you) caused but the police officer we believe did warn you prior to the arrest and the officer was acting lawfully.

“By grabbing the shirt in the way you did we believe was not accidental or to steady yourself.”

He added: “We are considering imposing a community based sentence.”

The court heard this morning that Harvey struggled with Pc Harron before being felled by two shots of CS spray after being spotted using his mobile phone while driving.

He was spotted on January 17 using his mobile phone while behind the wheel of his black Volkswagen four wheel drive vehicle.

At a previous hearing Harvey admitted driving the VW Toureg that day without insurance and whilst serving a 60-day ban for speeding.

Pc Harron said he had given no sign that he was following the 4x4 before Harvey stopped in the middle of the one-way road and got out to question him.

He began shouting at the officers in the car behind, demanding to know why they were following him.

Pc Harron then tried to arrest the rapper for breaching public order laws.

As he reached for Harvey’s left hand to arrest him the rapper grabbed the collar of his shirt, tearing off his tie, and shouted and struggled before the officer was able to disable him with the CS gas so other officers could take him to a police station.

Kevin Cobham, defending, told the court that he would provide the next hearing with references outlining Harvey’s community work, including groups such as the Prince’s Trust and south London schools to promote responsible citizenship.

Mr Stanley adjourned sentencing for a week and wished the rapper “best of luck for your future and good luck with you forthcoming wedding”.

FFS - convicted of assaulting a policeman and the beak wishes him good luck. he will probably be at the fecking wedding as well.

Now there seems to have been a bit of argy-bargy on both sides, but assaulting plod does not usually lead to a kiss in the arrse from the bench.
  2. Driving without insurance and whilst banned, that is a joke, the judge needs a few lessons in applying the law, fukewit.
  3. You do have to be careful how you read this story - very often there is a tendency for Her Majesty's Constabulary towards terminological inexactitude when reading from a notebook under oath

f-p. Most of the threads you start seem to come from newspaper articles (independent seems to be your choice of rag) yet you have the audacity to imply that others should take newspaper articles and how they are written as suspect!

You seem to be on Marie Antoinette's side as you want to have your cake and eat it.
  5. Frenchy - ya don't say!!

Having read a number of your posts, you seem to think that none of us have any ability to read a newspaper without questioning the contents! If you had been around longer than a few nanoseconds, you may have noticed that the ARRSE membership is generally well able to read a report and challenge it,

Please stop being so blinkin' (polite word as I don't want to challenge the swear filter) patronising whenever a newspaper article is quoted.....

  6. Why is it a joke? Nothing wrong with him being reported for or found guilty of both offences.

Would you argue that a prison escapee couldn't be charged with offences he committed whilst on the run, because he shouldn't have been at large to commit them in the first place?

I think the point that Duci is trying to make is that the fact that, having this previous and yet being treated as 'bezzers' by the beak is the joke. (and not a funny ha ha one)
  8. Exactly.

He gets all he deserves, the law is clear- dont break it!
  14. Sadly V, he didn't get what he deserved. The beak obviously thinks the C"rap" star is a god.

Community service. OK make the fcuker where an orange jump suit

  15. I suspect that I, as a normalish sort of bloke, would be doing some time now for those sort of offences.
