Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. Are you sure? was on BBC about an hour ago saying it was a WW2 bomb which had been found.
  2. A Spanish airline has said erroneous reports of a hostage crisis at a Dutch airport were caused by a "mis-communication".

Spain's Vueling Airline said the reports were the result of the mis-communication between the pilot and the control tower at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport.
  3. Red faces all round then!

  4. Indeed, apparently a misscommunication. Plus they found a WWII bomb at Schiphol this morning and the flight path of the supposedly hijacked plane looked a bit strange. - image uploaded by @MichelPenterman

A lot to do about nothing, or may be the pilot was a bit drunk and couldn't find Amsterdam. :)

Nice way to finish off your Holiday in Malaga !
  7. The pilot was probably trying to tell the control tower that someone had smuggled an ostrich on board and the laboon went up from there.

Apparently the Good Emperor Mong is CEO of Veuling.

First they airline doesn't respond to air traffic control when entering Netherlands airspace and as protocol, 2 F 16s go take a close look. Capt Mong then says something that could be interpreted as "Are we being hijacked?" Bad thing to say when one F 16 is off to your side and the other one is behind you doing interesting things with missile targeting systems.
