Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. is that a recognised firing position for the gpmg ????
  2. Excellent photos and certainly good recruiting poster potential. Someone asked why you were using a LSW in the jungle. When my unit did any jungle type work we never used GPMG as it was not particularly effective in those conditions, but was substituted by a Browning shotgun with solid shot and on occasion with a Thompson SMG or a B.A.R. (No, not the kind that sells beer) but that was some years ago. I hate to admit that I do not know what a minimi is though.
  3. Well, I wasn't using the LSW, being a yank civilian.
  4. LSW can't be too far from the BAR in characteristics.

They seem to be using Brigade Flashes as recognition symbols.
  5. Consider this - has to be better than messing about in Bovington.............

  6. 1 R Irish are part of 52 Infantry Bde (unless they have already made the switch to 16 AA Bde), so surely that is their TRF?
  7. Yes but on their helmets?
