He is NCO i/c Marching Reliefs and doesn't fix bayonets except for Guard Mount and Dismount. He is a Lance Corporal btw.
Ok, we know what his role is but why no bayonet? If he is to be armed with a bundook then why not put on the pointy thing like the others? There will be a reason hidden in the depths of time but I would like to know why.

Yes.
They are both called Bearskins.

Because, I think, the LCpl is posting the sentry. There are several occasions when the NCO does not have the bayonet fixed, watch the video of the Escort for the Word at the TofL and the Sgt does not have bayonet fixed.

I have noticed this on other occasions and asked why, but no answer.

My own thoughts is this goes back to ye olde days when Sergeants were armed with long pikes to keep the ranks straight and not armed with a musket. But I have no real idea.

How heavy was your pike?

Who is their tailor. Way too tall for their trousers.

It looks like chummy on the right's strides would fit chummy on the left's far better than him, and vice versa.

Appeared in some TV show.

Apart from looking like a complete hoop, he isn't doing himself - nor his 'fans' - any favours on the health front.
20 years old? FFS...

I thought I'd seen him somewhere before....

What I find I find of interest about this photo is not the photo itself (which I have no liking for at all nor any others of the dabbling duo) is the idea of how someone's status in life changes drastically simply by the exchange of wedding vows- she enters a place of worship as a commoner and exits a royal duchess.
It's not unique of course, but in all the cases, it's a sudden transition and for some. hard to cope with.

Even more interesting to me is the fact of it being the complete opposite in the case of Princess Mako.
niece of the present Japanese emperor.
In a week of so, she will enter a building as a Princess to register her marriage and
emerge as a commoner without any status above that of the average citizen. Not only
that, but she has declined to accept (take that, Meghan) the $1.3 million payment given
by custom to a Princess leaving the royal family to marry a commoner.
Although the couple won't starve, her husband appears to have no independent means but he's starting
work with New York law firm,
I hope it turns out to be plain sailing, Mako is supposed to be a genuine person, well-liked by both the royals and the general public.

That has got mental health issues written all over it.
