By 5 September, Ltn Monchablon (left) and 2 of the 4 Chasseurs alpins were KIA.

Chasseurs Alpins are the reason why the world now wears berets. They have anteriority and can do what they please.

Reminds me of the famous image of Marines raising Old Glory on Iwo Jima on 23 Feb 1945.

Of the six men in the photo three were killed in action during the fight for the island.

Is that where they have 600 people turn up for the reunion of the 6 who raised the flag?

Soldiers and farmers gathered at the debris of Hess' plane in Eaglesham

80 years ago today. I'm thinking there's a lot of good gizzits to be had there.
