  1. hi just wondering if anyone knows of people who have phenylketonuria (PKU) have served or are permitted to serve in the army?

just out of curiosity as my son has PKU

for those wondering, PKU is a rare metabolic disorder that is controlled by a low protien diet.
  2. Did the legwork for you, should have checked the JSP 346 in the med sticky yourself though.

"Phenylketonuria. These candidates are graded P8. Although there is no clear
evidence which provides overwhelming support for the need for lifelong dietary
treatment, regular annual clinical review remains essential. Dietary restrictions are
still generally necessary with protein supplements normally required and the military
cannot guarantee that specialist diet will be available."

To put it simply, it's not allowed in any shape or form. Instant writeoff.
  3.
thanks for clearing that up, never even thought to check!!
