Personal accounts of WWI or earlier

#1
Does anyone have any good recommendations for published diaries or collections of diary extracts from soldiers or officers who fought in WWI? The bookshop shelves abound with WWII testimonials but is seems a bit thin on the ground for WWI.

Earlier conflict accounts would also be welcome (Crimea, Boer war, Napoleonics etc).

There's loads from WW1!

Try these for starters.

'With a Machine Gun to Cambrai' by George Coppard

'A Subaltern's War' by Charles Edmunds/Carrington
