A copy of a Parachute Regiment journal from 1946 is being reprinted to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the magazine's inaugural issue.

The first edition of the Pegasus Journal appeared with photographs, reports, letters and anecdotes about the Second World War.

The edition also included a rare photograph of paratroopers preparing for the raid on Dieppe minutes before the operation was cancelled and passed to the Royal Marines.

Stories of the activities of the Paras' 1st and 6th Airborne Divisions during the war line the pages.

There is also a report from the War Office on the posthumous award of a Victoria Cross to L/Sgt John Daniel Baskeyfield of the South Staffordshire Regiment.

Copies of the journal can be obtained for £8.99, including postage, from DRA Books, 14 Mary Seacole Road, The Millfields, Plymouth PL1 3JB, or by visiting Cheques should be made payable to DRA Books
