Pay/Army number

Hi,

I was attested last week and I'm looking forward to part 1 of training in January at Synnerton if anyone else is going? and I was just wandering when I'm likely to get my Army number and when I'll start getting paid as I have done the selection weekend and I've been a few Tuesday nights all of which I am allegedly going to be paid for, now, I have read on t'internet that there have been some problems with TA Pay but apparently it has been sorted now or is that bollocks?

Make a note of which days and weekends you have been on!

Record everything! Travel, dates, times, distances and method. Not to mention reciepts for expenses.

Keep an exact record of every training event you take part in, what you were doing and who you were working for.

There will still be problems from time to time but this way you will be better equiped to sort them out.

Check what you have been paid against what you think you should have been paid, never be afraid to ask.

I got my number (and first payslip) six months to the day after attestation. Conversely, others got theirs after 2-3 weeks. There really is no defined timescale as such unfortunately.

Concur with the others, record what you did and when.

Not that it answers your question but you might be interested to know that when I joined TA Inf in 1987 my number started 2481**** and pay started at £13.67 per day. A pint was less than £1 even outside the unit bar. Almost 20 years later beer's gone up by 150%. What about starting pay?

It took me about 2 months to get my army number (which was about 2 months ago). I also received a pay slip roughly 2 weeks after this, but havent seen one since!

You mention a training weekend in January, is this TAFS? How did you get that info, because since I;ve joined all the people supposedly "in the know" have made excuses for having no confirmed dates for about 4-5 months now.

Methical, yes it is TAFS and my unit gave me the dates, maybe it depends what unit you are with, what's your location?

Once you have been attested and you have got your Regimental number and your docs have been processed with by Glasgow you should in theory start to recieve your pay, again you need to keep a record of dates and times that you have done training and make sure you sign your paysheets or you wont get anything

The system of training recruits has been changed yet again so that you will complete part of you training under a Brigade specialist Trainig (sic)team.
The ATR ( Army Training regiments) are also gearing up for this system and - so I am told not taking their first intakes under the new regime until March. If your unit training team are uninformed its because the Donkeys that decide such things are very slow in getting timely info out on the workers on the ground. Bear with it as you have many more years of bullsh@t baffling brains to come. Think of it as an initiation into the mad world of the Army. Good Luck fella.

I rejoined the TA about six months ago now, i kept my old number (starting 2490****) and i still haven't been paid although i have had some expenses come through.

There will a be a delay between your Regt'l number being generated (or reactivated in your case) and you being taken on strength by your unit. Once you're TOS, your pay docs are submitted and within a fortnigt to a month of that date you should be getting paid. If all goes smoothly it can all happen in two months.

Got attested in August and am still waiting for my first pay check. Got a pay slip a month ot 2 ago but it didn;t have a "pay into account" date.

And yeah I'm heading to Pirbright in Jan 07 to finish off my training with the TAFS and GAPS training system. But reading slightly from this post... am I to take it some places in England still do it the "2 week course THEN gaps" way round?

In theory this is how it should be going:

PHASE 1, RECRUIT TRAINING

1. Training. LAND have directed that the new Phase 1 Course Training Plan (CTP) will be delivered to all recruits from 01 Oct 06. From Oct 06 BRTC will have the facilities to deliver this training for the Bde.


2. Programme. It is expected that the programme will be:

a. Selection. A selection weekend may be introduced, it is still to be confirmed if this will be conducted by units or at by ATRA.

b. Part 1A TAFS. Territorial Army Foundation Scheme (part 1A) is 2 weekends and is likely to be delivered by units. The programme is identical for Infantry and non Infantry.

c. Part 1B. Part 1B, weekends 1, 2 and 3 are identical for Infantry and non Infantry. Weekend 4 is training and testing for non Infantry and advanced training for the Infantry. Ultimately this will be delivered by the BRTC.

d. Part 1B (Inf). Part 1B (Inf) is a further 3 weekends for Infantry recruits only, ultimately this will be delivered by the BRTC.

e. Part 1C. Part 1C is a 2 week centralised course and will be delivered as follows:

(1) Infantry. Combat Infantrymen’s Course (CIC) at ITC (C) for the Infantry.

(2) Non Infantry. A centralised cadre delivered by ATRA.

3. GAP training. There is no Gap training as this is incorporated in to the new CTP.
