Thinking of having a crack at PF selection at the end of my current posting.

Does anyone know how my promotion within the Corps might be affected by the time spent out of role?

Do it anyway; if it does not work out, you will be a better Op Mi for having a crack.

Later in life you don't want to be sat in front of the fire with your pipe and slippers thinking "what if?"

Agreed! You should have a punt! There are years to do all the other stuff in life but you wont always have the physical ability and stamina that you have now.

Good luck!

Do it at this stage, there isn't a better time. The very best of luck and I hope you make it and cover the Corps, vicariously, with glory.

Clearly you are all missing a few vital points here in your recommendations to the young lamb*.

Your young sibling needs to acquire a more esoteric outlook on military life particularly with respect to the more specialist and quite frankly `rugged roles`- may I suggest you try `K` Branch of 49 Para.

I'm sure if he pictures himself kicking your teeth in when it gets gruelling he will make it through! No better motivation, I imagine!

You really must stop measuring people against your own low standards.

Well CR is the man to ask! As a LCpl it wouldn't affect your promotion in a negative manner. Some would suggest it may enhance it.

....actually, thinking about it, K Branch might be an alternative. TMA, MOC, sub, among others, can brief by PM. I was never in the Branch but came across them a number of times and it's interesting and challenging work.

It most ceratinly is.

Is it that obvious?!!!
well, you had two posts, and the other said you were in squad 192...

elementary, and all that.
Ahh yes. I realised that very shortly after posting!

Well, if it will only stunt my promotion prospects mildly, think i may well have a crack when the time comes.

Got even me there mucker

Heard of S, R, Q(W), T & L but not K :?

Are you sure you and the side walking one are not talking at cross purposes ? There used to be a `Kilo Section` in a Nissan hut in your old haunt which had dealings with the `obvious` but never heard of a Corps unit with that designation. Then again the Corps is so fond of changing nomeclementures and unit designations as we all know

Where is NTTT when you want some defined history questiones answered ?

TMA

PS - Anyone attending ICAREC on Monday ?
