The Communist party boss of China's financial hub, Shanghai, was sacked yesterday in the most significant purge of the country's secretive inner leadership for more than a decade.

Chen Liangyu, who sat on the 24-man ruling politburo as well as running China's largest city, was caught up in a corruption investigation over hundreds of millions of pounds siphoned out of its pension fund.

Not so, of China's 25 million registered practitioners of a certain faith, 150 000 are in Shanghai, however as they principally operate the City’s kebab & market stalls and allegedly sell hash on the side, they are not involved in this scandal. Though it must be said they would love the opportunity to do so in future.
