Welcome to the Army Rumour Service, ARRSE

The UK's largest and busiest UNofficial military website.

The heart of the site is the forum area, including:

  1. I'm doing some research on Desert Storm and until now I was under the impression that the Paras were not deployed to the Gulf in 1990/91 but then I saw a lad Shuan Rusling (4 para) who got a medal out there.

Does anyone know which Para regiments were deployed to Desert Storm in 1990/91?

  2. I dont think that any of the Battalions were deployed. However, I do believe some individual Para's were deployed whilst attached to other units. I saw a couple of Para lads in Blackadder as BCR's. There were also other Para's involved in Paderborne training BCR's. I also heard that some Para lads were attched to some of the infantry units deployed.

I stand to be corrected though.
  3. I know one who was attached to the 82nd Airborne that deployed with them.

That could be him but I can't remember his name
I'm sure I read it in the sleave notes that he started in the Parachute Regiment
Can't remember the bloody book either
  10. They didn't deploy on Regimental level.

There were individual soldiers attached to other units.
GW1 medals to Paras are quite rare.

  13. There were at least four from 10 para (civi paramedics i believe)
  14. COS HQ 4 Armoured Brigade was a member of the Parachute Regiment.
  15. He was there as a medic.

Also, the Para Regt (?Pegasus) Band were there at I believe 33 Field Hospital as stretcher bearers.
